About this product
The Deuter Guide 30 is a 30-liter mountaineering backpack built for challenging terrain, carrying a recommended load of 6 to 10 kg with a total weight of just 880 g (1 lb 15 oz). Constructed from 420D PA FD RIPS fabric, it measures H 65 x W 27 x D 24 cm and fits back lengths of 44 to 54 cm, making it suitable for body heights of 170 to 195 cm. The pack comes in a Redwood and Papaya colorway and includes a lightweight helmet holder integrated into the lid, an ice axe attachment, and a stretch compartment inside the main body. Organization is handled by a zippered front pocket with key clip and a zippered side cell phone pocket with loop. The ergonomic shoulder straps (22 SL and 24 sizes feature a soft-flask pocket) pair with a precision-adjustable sternum strap fitted with a whistle buckle. Additional details include stabilizer straps, a glasses stow system, and an SOS label sewn into the pack.

What people are saying
Reviewers consistently praise the Deuter Guide 30 for its impressive comfort-to-weight ratio, coming in at around 855g thanks to its lightweight Delrin U-frame, which replaces the heavier aluminium frame of older models. The Alpine back system earns repeated compliments for keeping loads well-centered and evenly distributed, making it a strong choice for mountaineering, scrambling, ski touring, and alpine climbing. Build quality and durable, PFC-free fabric are also recurring positives. The most common criticism is the lack of back ventilation: the solid foam and fabric back panel traps heat, making the pack uncomfortable in warmer conditions. Some reviewers also note the 30L feels smaller than its stated size, and a few miss the larger lid pocket found on previous Guide models.
