About this product
The Komperdell Erlkonig Carbon Trail Running Poles are a unisex, Austrian-made option built for runners who want minimal weight and maximum responsiveness on technical terrain. Each pole is constructed from 14mm carbon fibre, bringing the per-pole weight down to just 167g, and the three-section folding design collapses to a packed length of 45cm, fitting neatly into a running vest's quiver. The FXP folding mechanism deploys the poles automatically, so there is no fumbling mid-run. Slim Trail Pro Tape grips are shaped for direct control on demanding trails, and the changeable non-slip grip tape maintains a secure hold in wet conditions or during sweaty ascents. The included Fly sport strap is designed to transfer power efficiently during high-output efforts, and the poles are also compatible with the separately sold Fly loop strap for those who prefer a loop-style fit. Sold in pairs, these poles are purpose-built for trail running.

What people are saying
Reviewers consistently praise the Komperdell Erlkonig Carbon Trail Running Poles for their exceptional lightness (around 167g per pole at 125cm) and the standout FXP self-deploying folding mechanism, which multiple testers describe as genuinely impressive and a real time-saver on the trail. The tape-wrapped grip earns consistent approval for staying secure in wet and sweaty conditions, and the poles are widely noted as sturdy and durable despite their featherweight build. The 3-year no-questions-asked repair guarantee is frequently highlighted as a meaningful added value. The most common criticism is the premium price, which some reviewers feel is hard to justify over cheaper alternatives in the same lineup. A secondary complaint is that stowing the poles requires care, as the spring-loaded mechanism causes them to want to pop back open if not held firmly. The ultra-compact basket can also sink into very soft ground.
