The Outdoor Research Helium AscentShell Jacket is the lightest and most breathable waterproof hard shell in the Outdoor Research lineup, built for demanding alpine conditions. It combines two core technologies: Pertex Diamond Fuse fabric, which delivers lightweight durability for movement through rugged terrain, and AscentShell technology, which provides breathable waterproof protection rated highly for both breathability and rain resistance. All seams are fully taped, ensuring reliable weather exclusion throughout. The jacket features a standard fit designed to layer efficiently over midlayers and under harnesses or backpacks, while Dynamic Reach underarm panels preserve freedom of movement. A wire-brim hood with Hoodlock allows a customizable fit with or without a helmet, and adjustable cuffs can seal tight against weather or open to fit over gloves. Storage includes both external and internal chest pockets. An adjustable drawcord hem rounds out the weather-sealing system. Developed in collaboration with alpine athletes, this shell has been field-tested in some of the world's most demanding mountain environments.
