About this product

The Petzl Hirundos is a performance climbing harness built for gym sessions and outdoor cragging, where low weight and freedom of movement are priorities. FuseFrame technology shapes the waistbelt into a thin, supple profile that stays comfortable during athletic climbing, while elasticized leg loops self-adjust to the wearer and allow unrestricted movement. The tie-in points are reinforced with high-modulus polyethylene (HMPE) for enhanced resistance to rope friction and long-term durability. A forged aluminum Doubleback HD buckle on the waistbelt provides a secure grip and smooth webbing adjustment. The harness carries four equipment loops total, two rigid front loops for quick clipping and unclipping of quickdraws, and two flexible rear loops that make it easy to bring gear forward and stay comfortable under a backpack. Two Caritool-compatible slots and one rear trail-line loop add further organization. Constructed from nylon, polyester, EVA, and polyurethane, the harness weighs 260 to 340 g depending on size and meets CE EN 12277 Type C and UIAA certifications. A protective carry bag is included.

What people are saying

Reviewers consistently praise the Petzl Hirundos for its lightweight build, excellent breathability, and versatility across sport climbing, gym use, and even alpine missions. The ventilated foam and slim profile earn repeated compliments, and many users note it is surprisingly comfortable given how little it weighs. Petzl's reliable DoubleBack buckle and durable construction are also frequently highlighted. The most common criticism is that the thin waistbelt and leg loops become uncomfortable during extended hang time or big-wall sessions. The lack of adjustable leg loops is a noted limitation for some body types, and a few reviewers flag that the slim gear loops feel cramped when carrying a full rack.
