About this product
The Rab Ascent 300 Long is a wide-mummy sleeping bag rated to a Rab sleep limit of 1°C (35°F), with an ISO EN comfort rating of 5°C (41°F) and an extreme rating of -15°C (5°F), making it a capable three-season option. It is filled with 650-fill-power R.D.S. certified European goose down treated with a Nikwax fluorocarbon-free hydrophobic finish to resist moisture and maintain loft. The outer shell is 30D recycled Pertex Quantum at 50 g/m² with a fluorocarbon-free DWR, while the lining is 20D recycled nylon at 38 g/m², both made from 100% recycled polyamide. Trapezoidal boxwall construction with a differential cut promotes full loft and minimizes cold spots. The Long size accommodates users up to 200 cm (78.7 in), with a 230 cm (90.6 in) bag length and generous internal girths at the shoulder (162 cm), hip (136 cm), and foot (110 cm). A 3D shaped neck collar, down-baffled three-quarter-length YKK zip, angled foot box, and internal zipped stash pocket add practical comfort. The bag weighs 895 g and packs to 30 x 18 cm. Left and right versions can zip together, and a cotton storage sack plus a drawcord stuff sack are included.

What people are saying
Reviewers consistently praise the Rab Ascent 300 as an excellent value entry into down sleeping bags, highlighting its packability, the hydrophobic 650-fill duck down that retains warmth in damp conditions, and the wider mummy shape that offers more room than typical mummy bags. The Pertex Quantum shell earns repeated mention for being lightweight and weather-resistant. The most common criticism is that the 300 is a true summer-only bag, with forum users noting it falls short for spring or autumn use and recommending the Ascent 500 for shoulder-season camping. At least one buyer reported uneven down distribution causing cold spots, raising quality-control concerns.
