About this product
The Trango Stratus Crash Pad is a bouldering-focused landing pad built for demanding outdoor use. It opens flat to a generous 130 x 100 x 12cm and folds to a compact 100 x 70 x 25cm sandwich configuration, weighing 5.6kg. The dual-layer foam construction pairs high-compression and low-compression foam to absorb and distribute impact effectively across the landing zone. The 600-denier nylon cover is reinforced at the corners, with bar-tacked grab handles and dedicated haul points designed to hold up in rugged climbing environments. Four carry handles and a fully adjustable pack system, including padded shoulder straps, a waist belt, sternum strap, and load lifters with customizable height and width settings, make long approaches more manageable. An oversized kangaroo flap accommodates extra pads or gear and folds over the waist belt when not in use. All hardware is metal, and the webbing throughout is built for durability. The pad is made with Bluesign approved materials and is manufactured in Viet Nam.

What people are saying
Reviewers consistently praise the Trango Stratus for its exceptional foam performance, with expert testers calling its triple-layer closed-cell and open-cell foam combination the best landing surface they have tested, outperforming even long-established benchmarks in the category. Its mid-size footprint earns praise for versatility, working well for highballs and casual circuits alike, while the 45-degree hinge design is noted for eliminating dead spots. The ergonomic carry system, reinforced construction, and kangaroo storage pouch are also well-regarded. The main limitation noted is that, as a mid-sized pad, it is less suited for very tall highballs where a larger pad would be preferable. User review volume remains thin given the product's relative newness.
