About this product
The Big Agnes Battle Mountain 2 is a freestanding, 4-season mountaineering tent designed in collaboration with Chhiring Dorje Sherpa, a Big Agnes Ambassador with 17 Everest summits. Built for two occupants, it offers 31 square feet of floor area with a trapezoidal footprint measuring 84 inches long and a peak height of 42 inches, keeping the interior livable without excess bulk. The packed weight comes in at 7 lbs. 8 oz. (minimum trail weight 6 lbs. 10 oz.) and packs down to a 9 by 20 inch cylinder. The rainfly uses Dominico undyed ripstop polyester with silicone treatment and a 1,200 mm waterproof polyurethane coating, plus a face coating that boosts tear strength by roughly 20 to 25 percent over standard fabrics and improves UV resistance. The floor is nylon taffeta with a 10,000 mm waterproof coating, and all seams are factory sealed. Three DAC Featherlite NSL poles (9.6 and 10.25 mm diameter) form the structure, while two fly vents, color-coded components, precut guylines, and reflective webbing simplify setup and ventilation management in demanding alpine conditions.

What people are saying
Reviewers consistently praise the Big Agnes Battle Mountain 2 for its impressive wind and snow resistance relative to its weight, with multiple testers noting the four-pole DAC NSL hub system holds firm in severe alpine conditions. The color-coded poles, clip-based setup, and glove-friendly buckles earn repeated compliments for making pitching fast and intuitive. Dual doors, dual vestibules, and ample interior pockets are also widely appreciated. The most common criticisms are the limited floor space (31 sq ft feels snug for two), the hub-and-spoke pole system packing bulkier than standard designs, a learning curve on first setup, and a high price point. Some reviewers note ventilation can be insufficient for warm-weather use, and the footprint is sold separately.
