About this product

The Big Agnes Tiger Wall 3 Carbon is a three-person, three-season backpacking tent built around a single Easton carbon fiber and aluminum pole for fast, straightforward setup and takedown. At a minimum trail weight of just 1 lb. 13 oz. (packed weight 2 lbs. 1 oz.), it qualifies as a genuine ultralight shelter, and its 6 x 18.5-inch packed size keeps bulk to a minimum. The canopy uses breathable nylon ripstop, while both the floor and rainfly are constructed from ultralightweight Dyneema, a ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene fabric that is fully waterproof and welded rather than seam-taped, eliminating the need for seam sealing while delivering high tear strength. The semifreestanding design offers 38 square feet of floor area (88 x 66/60 inches, head to foot) and a 42-inch peak height, plus two vestibules totaling 16 square feet. Two doors feature dry-entry design, dual-zipper closures, double vestibule sliders for top or bottom venting, and a Quick Stash door keeper. Interior storage includes an oversize ceiling pocket and media pockets with earbud-cord routing. Use of a footprint is strongly recommended, as this tent is intended for experienced users who can provide careful handling.

What people are saying

Reviewers consistently praise the Big Agnes Tiger Wall 3 Carbon for its extraordinary weight savings, with its Dyneema Composite Fabric construction and carbon poles making it one of the lightest semi-freestanding double-wall three-person tents available. The semi-freestanding pitch, two vestibules, and generous interior space are also frequently highlighted as practical strengths. However, the most common and serious criticism is fragility: the ultra-thin Dyneema fly is widely considered too delicate for regular use, with reports of tears appearing after only a handful of nights out. The price is another recurring concern, with expert reviewers calling it exorbitantly expensive for a shelter this vulnerable. Fixed-length guylines and limited adjustability are noted as minor but persistent annoyances.
