About this product

The Mountain Hardwear Mineral King 3 is a freestanding, 3-season backpacking tent designed for three occupants, balancing a minimum trail weight of 6 lbs. 10.8 oz. with a generous 42.5 square feet of floor area (90 x 68 inches) and a 48-inch peak height. Two large doors open onto full-size dry-entry vestibules totaling 20.9 square feet, giving each occupant convenient access and covered gear storage. The symmetrical, rectangular floor plan supports a head-to-toe sleeping configuration, while pre-bent 9 mm DAC Pressfit poles improve interior livable space and simplify setup. A full mesh upper canopy promotes ventilation and stargazing, and the rainfly, rated to a 2,000 mm polyurethane coating, can be rolled back halfway for shade or open-sky views. The proprietary HangTight internal system allows 360-degree hanging of headlamps and gear, and five interior pockets add organization. Seam-taped construction and a bathtub-style 1,500 mm polyurethane floor keep moisture out. A footprint made from 100% recycled 75-denier polyester taffeta is included, and the tent packs down to 7 x 25 inches.

What people are saying

Reviewers consistently praise the Mountain Hardwear Mineral King 3 for its exceptionally fast, solo-friendly setup, crediting the pre-bent DAC Pressfit poles and clip system for pitches that routinely take under five minutes. The nearly full-mesh canopy earns repeated compliments for ventilation, stargazing, and the rollback fly feature. Build quality, including a tough 68D polyester fly and floor, is widely called a standout for the price, and the included footprint is seen as a genuine value-add. The most common criticisms are the low 48-inch peak height, which forces taller campers to crouch, and the fact that guyline stakes are not included. Several reviewers also note the tent is snug for a true three-person group, working best for two adults with gear. A few users flag that the semi-transparent fly lets in early morning light.
