About this product

The Evolv Shaman Lace is a downturned, asymmetric climbing shoe built around edging performance on steep and overhung terrain. Its SYNTHRATEK VX synthetic upper stretches minimally over time and is fully vegan, paired with a VTR rand that reinforces the front toe area for durability and precision. The MX-P midsole features a 1.6mm half-length Love Bump that positions the toes in a crimped power stance, while a knuckle box prevents toe compression against the rand, together eliminating dead space for a responsive, comfortable fit. A 1mm half-length rubber layer and dark spine heel round out the midsole package. The 4.2mm TRAX SAS outsole delivers a stiff, high-friction platform suited to micro edging and bouldering across rock types. An asymmetric lacing system accommodates a range of foot shapes. Each shoe weighs 9 oz (264 g), and the fit runs notably snug, so sizing up is generally advisable.

What people are saying

Reviewers consistently praise the Evolv Shaman Lace as a specialist edging and power shoe, highlighting its aggressive downturn, precise toe box, and sticky TRAX SAS rubber as standout strengths on steep sport routes and boulder problems. The lace-up closure earns particular appreciation for allowing a highly customizable fit across different foot shapes. The "Love Bump" midsole technology is frequently credited for maintaining performance without extreme discomfort. The most common criticism is the demanding break-in period, typically requiring 5 to 6 sessions, and the notably narrow, stiff fit that leads many reviewers to recommend sizing up at least a half size. Smearing and slab performance are considered weak points compared to softer alternatives.
