About this product
The Ortovox Ravine 32 S is a technical freeride backpack built for demanding backcountry skiers who need fast, on-the-go access to gear without removing the pack. Its 32-liter capacity fits into a compact 30 x 57 x 24 cm frame and weighs just 950 g, making it a genuinely lightweight option for steep descents. The main compartment opens from both the top and the front, while a dedicated safety compartment keeps emergency equipment and a light ice axe immediately reachable. A quick-attach parallel ski fastener with carabiner handles wide freeride skis in a single motion, and both A-Skifix and diagonal D-Skifix (supporting waist widths up to 150 mm) cover additional ski-carrying configurations. Further attachment points accommodate poles, a rope, a helmet net, and ice screws. The CLASP protector pocket allows a separately purchased spine protector to be fitted inside. Four compartments in total include a map pocket and a valuables compartment with key clip, and the pack is hydration-system compatible. The short back length suits a torso-to-hip fit with up to 130 cm abdomen circumference. All fabrics are 100 percent recycled Polyamide 420D Cordura and Polyamide 100D, produced through a PFC-free, climate-neutral process.

What people are saying
Reviewers consistently praise the Ortovox Ravine 32 S for its lightweight, minimalist build and thoughtful on-the-go access, noting that gear can be stowed or retrieved without removing the pack. The quick-attach parallel ski fastener, dedicated safety compartment, and crampon storage at the base are frequently highlighted as standout functional features. The ergonomic Full Contact Light back system earns strong marks for keeping the load stable and close to the body on descents, and the 420D Cordura construction is seen as a durable, well-balanced choice. The most common criticism is fit-related: the hip belt placement can feel off for some body types, and the plastic hip belt buckles are noted as a durability concern by some users who would prefer metal hardware.
