About this product

The Atomic Backland Pro Alpine Touring Boot for 2022 is built for dedicated backcountry skiers who demand performance on both the ascent and descent. Designed around a 98mm last, it suits narrower foot shapes and keeps the fit precise and responsive. The Boa fit system enables fine, incremental adjustments with minimal effort, so dialing in comfort on the go is straightforward. An Energy Backbone reinforces the cuff, giving the boot the rigidity needed for aggressive downhill skiing without sacrificing the mobility required for touring. The lugged rubber sole features a slight rocker profile that promotes a more natural walking stride on varied terrain. Prolite construction keeps overall weight to a minimum while maintaining support where it counts most, making this boot a practical choice for long days in the mountains. It strikes a considered balance between uphill efficiency and the kind of downhill control that serious backcountry skiers expect from a performance-oriented touring boot.

What people are saying

Reviewers consistently praise the Atomic Backland Pro Women's for its exceptional uphill performance, crediting the Frictionless Pivot system and 74-degree range of motion for making long skin tracks feel nearly effortless. The Boa closure, heat-moldable Memory Fit liner, and overall lightweight Prolite construction earn repeated compliments for comfort and customization. The Free/Lock 4.0 walk-to-ski transition is noted as smooth and reliable. The most common criticism centers on the narrow 98mm last, which suits low-volume feet well but leaves wider-footed skiers without a good fit. Several users also flag that downhill performance, while adequate for moderate terrain and soft snow, falls short compared to heavier alpine touring boots, and some note durability concerns with the Boa system and liner materials over time.
