About this product
The Big Agnes Battle Mountain 3 is a freestanding 4-season tent designed for mountaineering and high-alpine expeditions, developed in collaboration with Big Agnes Ambassador Chhiring Dorje Sherpa, who has summited Mount Everest 17 times. It sleeps three across a 44-square-foot floor (86 x 60/88/60 inches) with a 44-inch peak height, and packs down to 8 x 22 inches at a trail weight of 8 lbs. 1 oz. (3,629 g). The Dominico undyed ripstop polyester fly is silicone-treated with a 1,200 mm waterproof polyurethane coating and an additional face coating that boosts tear strength by 20 to 25 percent over standard fabrics while resisting UV fading. The nylon taffeta floor carries a 10,000 mm waterproof coating, and all seams are fully sealed. Three DAC Featherlite NSL poles (9.6 and 10.25 mm diameter) clip in quickly even with gloves on. Two doors, two vestibules totaling 19 square feet, two fly vents, and eight interior pockets round out a well-organized shelter built for serious high-altitude use.

What people are saying
Reviewers consistently praise the Big Agnes Battle Mountain 3 for its exceptional storm-worthiness, calling it "bombproof" in alpine conditions including heavy snow loads, high winds, and blizzards. Its color-coded poles and press-fit connectors make setup surprisingly intuitive even with gloved hands, and the dual vestibules, gear loft, and 44 sq ft floor area earn repeated praise for livability. The most common criticism is weight, as the nearly 8 to 9 lb packed weight makes it a poor fit for fast-and-light travel. The hexagonal floor shape is noted to reduce usable sleeping space, making it feel snug for three adults. The premium price point is also a recurring concern, though most reviewers consider it justified by the build quality and durability.
