About this product
The Marmot Mad River 15 is a mummy-style sleeping bag built for backpacking, rated to 15 degrees Fahrenheit (negative 9 degrees Celsius) with an ISO-tested comfort rating of 23 degrees Fahrenheit and a lower limit of 11 degrees Fahrenheit. It is filled with 650-fill-power duck down treated with ExpeDRY for faster drying and sustained loft, and it comes in a gender-free design available in Short, Regular, Long, and Long X-Wide fits to accommodate heights up to 78 inches. The shell and lining are both made from 100% preconsumer recycled nylon, ripstop on the outside and taffeta on the inside. A full-length left-side zipper with a snag-free slider handles ventilation and entry, while a shorter right-side zipper adds extra airflow control. A draft collar helps seal in warmth during movement, and the anatomically shaped footbox wraps around the foot for added comfort. Weight runs from 1 pound 10 ounces in Short to 2 pounds 1.9 ounces in Long X-Wide, with compressed volumes between 7.7 and 11.6 liters. A compression sack and storage bag are included.

What people are saying
Reviewers consistently praise the Marmot Mad River 15 for its reliable warmth, lightweight feel, and impressive packability, with users highlighting it as an excellent three-season backpacking bag. The 650-fill ExpeDRY down is frequently noted for maintaining loft and warmth even in damp or humid conditions. The dual-zipper system (full-length left-side and short right-side) earns repeated praise for precise ventilation control, and the anatomically designed footbox is called out for keeping feet warm without cold spots. The recycled nylon shell and PFC-free construction appeal to eco-conscious campers. Critical feedback is sparse given the bag's recent release, though some note that at roughly 2 lbs. 14 oz. (regular), it is not the lightest option in its temperature class for weight-obsessed ultralight backpackers.
