The Salomon Escape 68 Outback Flat is a waxless backcountry ski built for off-track touring, manufactured in Czechia. Its wood core is reinforced with plastic and wrapped in fiberglass, producing a construction that balances light weight with longitudinal stiffness. The structural cap build keeps the total weight to 2.09 kg per pair, making it manageable on longer wilderness routes. A 68-65-60 mm tip-to-tail profile (waist 65 mm) provides enough width for varied off-piste terrain while still allowing reasonable control on descents. Full metal edges deliver reliable grip on firm or icy surfaces, and the waxless G1 base uses Posigrip technology with embossed fish-scale patterning for traction on the kick zone, eliminating the need for grip wax. Bindings are not included. Recommended user weights range from 40 kg at 160 cm up to 90 to 110 kg at 210 cm, covering a broad spectrum of skiers looking for a capable, low-maintenance touring ski.
