About this product

The Salomon S/Race Carbon Skate paired with the Prolink Shift Race binding is a high-performance cross-country ski set built for competitive skaters. The ski's Thin Ply Carbon construction optimizes torsional rigidity, delivering efficient energy transmission during the push-off phase while balanced camber maintains stability through the glide. A triangle thickness profile channels energy from the ski's midsection to the tips, sharpening acceleration with each stride. The Nomex core, an ultralight honeycomb composite reinforced with carbon, fiberglass, and a wood sandwich shell, keeps weight to 1060 g per ski (4.67 lbs per pair) without sacrificing consistency. D2FC Digital Dynamic Flex Control uses digital press monitoring to guarantee identical flex and camber across both skis. The Universal G5 sole is a World Cup-grade base suited to all snow conditions, and each ski arrives pre-waxed with fluorine-free Swix wax, ready to ski after a single scrape. The Shift Race binding features Carbon Loaded technology and adjustable plate positioning to fine-tune grip and glide. Side cut measures 44 to 43 to 44 mm. Available in 170 cm.

What people are saying

Reviewers consistently praise the Salomon S/Race Carbon Skate set for its impressive lightweight construction and responsive, quick feel on snow. The Thin Ply Carbon build and Nomex honeycomb core earn repeated credit for excellent energy transmission and torsional rigidity, making the skis perform well across a wide range of snow conditions. The Prolink Shift Race binding is widely appreciated for its easy on-the-fly adjustability, letting skiers fine-tune grip versus glide without stopping. The G5 universal base is noted for holding wax well between tune-ups. The main criticism is that the set is firmly aimed at experienced or race-level skiers, and less confident skiers may find the performance-focused stiffness demanding rather than forgiving.
