About this product
The Armada x Oyuki ARV 116 JJ UL is a 175 cm freeride ski built around a 116 mm waist, designed to balance ultralight touring performance with the power needed for demanding descents. At the heart of the construction is Armada's Caruba core, described as their lightest wood species, which minimizes swing weight without sacrificing dampness or responsiveness. A directional fiberglass laminate matrix governs the flex pattern and torsional rigidity, producing a lively yet forgiving ride with quick response. The flex profile is graduated, measuring 3 at the tip, 5 at the waist, and 4 at the tail. AR75 sidewall construction covers 75 percent of the ski's length, improving edge pressure underfoot, while cap construction in the tip and tail smooths turn initiation and reduces hookiness. Freestyle rocker in the tips and tails combines with positive camber underfoot for versatility across variable snow conditions. Lightweight 1.7 heat-treated edges and an S7 base with a speed additive round out the build. The topsheet features limited edition artwork by Mike Shankster, created in collaboration with Niseko-based brand Oyuki.

What people are saying
Reviewers consistently praise the Armada ARV 116 JJ UL for its exceptional float, effortless playfulness, and surfy feel in deep powder, calling it one of the most intuitive and fun powder skis available. The ultralight Caruba wood core earns strong marks for keeping swing weight low, making it a capable backcountry touring option without sacrificing the lively, freestyle character the JJ line is known for. The rocker-camber-rocker profile is widely appreciated for its catch-free smearing and buttering. The most common criticism is that the ski is a specialist, not an all-rounder: reviewers note it struggles in crud, variable, or firm conditions and is not suited for directional, high-speed charging. The limited-edition Oyuki topsheet artwork is frequently highlighted as a standout visual bonus.
