The Armada x Oyuki ARV 116 JJ UL is a 175 cm backcountry ski built around an ultralight Caruba wood core, which Armada describes as their lightest wood species, designed to minimize swing weight without sacrificing the power and dampness needed for demanding descents. At 116 mm underfoot, it offers generous float in deep snow while remaining manageable on the skin track. Construction details include a directional fiberglass laminate matrix that shapes the flex pattern and torsional rigidity for a lively, forgiving ride, along with 1.7 mm heat-treated lightweight edges for a snappy feel. The AR75 sidewall configuration (75 percent sidewall, 25 percent cap) improves edge pressure underfoot while the cap sections in the tip and tail smooth out turn initiation. A Freestyle Rocker profile combines rockered tips and tails with positive camber underfoot, supporting both surfy, playful riding and committed carving. The S7 base includes a speed additive for low-maintenance quickness. Finishing the package is a limited-edition topsheet featuring artwork by Mike Shankster, created in collaboration with Niseko-based brand Oyuki.
