About this product

The Black Diamond Helio Carbon 102 is a 2026 all-mountain and freeride alpine touring ski built around a paulownia wood core that keeps overall weight low while preserving a lively, responsive flex. A pre-preg carbon fiber and titanal laminate sandwich construction adds stiffness and control without unnecessary bulk, and a titanal binding plate provides a secure, durable mounting platform. The 102mm waist width, paired with a rocker-camber-rocker profile and early-rise tip and tail, delivers reliable float in powder while staying manageable on firmer, more technical terrain. ABS sidewalls contribute edge grip and long-term durability. A sintered base maintains glide efficiency across long touring approaches and alpine descents. The 23-meter turn radius suits high-speed, big-mountain lines, and the raised tail adds versatility in variable snow. Available in four lengths (164, 171, 178, and 185 cm), the ski carries a two-year limited manufacturer warranty.

What people are saying

Reviewers consistently praise the 2026 Black Diamond Helio Carbon 102 as a versatile, "quiver-of-one" backcountry ski that strikes a strong balance between uphill efficiency and capable downhill performance. The redesigned poplar wood core, pre-preg carbon layup, and full-perimeter ABS sidewalls earn repeated credit for improved dampening, torsional stiffness, and a playful, responsive feel across variable snow conditions. The 102mm waist is widely noted as a genuine all-rounder, offering adequate float in powder and solid edge grip on firmer snow. The most common criticism is that the ski trades some high-speed composure and dampness compared to heavier, metal-laminate competitors, making it better suited to long touring days than aggressive, resort-style charging.
