About this product
The Rab Neutrino Pro 500 is a lightweight mummy sleeping bag engineered for mountaineering, multi-day trekking, and fast-and-light alpine adventures where nighttime temperatures can drop sharply. It is filled with 500g of 800-fill-power, RDS-certified European goose down treated with a Nikwax fluorocarbon-free hydrophobic finish to resist moisture in damp or snowy conditions. The outer shell is 20D Pertex Quantum Pro recycled nylon ripstop (40gsm) with a fluorocarbon-free DWR coating, while the lining uses 20D recycled nylon (38gsm). Temperature ratings follow ISO EN 13537:2012, with a comfort rating of 0°C (32°F), a limit of -6°C (21°F), and an extreme of -24°C (-11°F); Rab's own sleep limit is -9°C (15°F). Chevron-shaped baffles reduce fabric use and down migration, and trapezoidal boxwall construction with a differential cut maximizes loft. A neck baffle, three-quarter-length zip with insulated baffle, and adjustable hood drawcord all minimize heat loss. The Regular version weighs 915g and packs to 35x23cm (13.8x9.1in). Each bag is hand-filled in the UK and ships with a waterproof roll-top compression sack and a cotton storage sack.

What people are saying
Reviewers consistently praise the Rab Neutrino Pro 500 for its excellent warmth-to-weight ratio, high-quality 800-fill-power down, and the weather-resistant combination of Nikwax-treated hydrophobic down and Pertex Quantum Pro shell, which gives it a durable, damp-shedding feel well suited to alpine bivouacs and exposed conditions. The user-friendly hood toggles, no-catch zip, and thoughtful baffle design are frequently highlighted as refined, practical details. The most common criticism is the premium price, which sits at the upper end of its warmth category. The extremely narrow mummy cut, while thermally efficient, is noted as a trade-off that may feel restrictive for those who move around while sleeping. Cold sleepers are also advised to treat the temperature rating conservatively.
