About this product
The Santa Cruz 5010 5 C GX AXS Evo Exclusive is a 2024 carbon trail bike built around the brand's lower-link mounted VPP suspension platform, which uses two short counter-rotating links to deliver a tunable shock rate suited to aggressive trail riding. Travel is 140mm up front and 130mm at the rear, with a mixed-wheel setup pairing a 29-inch front wheel with a 27.5-inch rear (XS sizes run 27.5-inch at both ends). The C-grade carbon frame adds roughly 250 to 280 grams compared to the CC variant while sharing the same manufacturing facility, techniques, and structural integrity. An integrated flip chip allows riders to toggle between high and low geometry settings, and internal routing keeps brake and dropper cables tidy. The downtube houses the Glovebox storage compartment, which includes a Tool Wallet and Tube Purse for organized trail-side access. Molded rubber protection covers the swingarm and downtube. Dropper post spec varies by size, from a Fox Transfer SL with 100mm drop on XS to the SDG Tellis on small through large frames, and the OneUp V3 on XL and XXL.

What people are saying
Reviewers consistently praise the 2024 Santa Cruz 5010 V5 for its exceptional playfulness, nimble handling, and the way the mullet (MX) wheel setup, pairing a 29-inch front with a 27.5-inch rear, blends traction with agility on tight and technical trails. The VPP suspension is widely noted as more composed and progressive than the previous generation, and the SRAM GX Eagle AXS wireless drivetrain earns strong marks for reliability. The evo-exclusive build adds appreciated upgrades in the Industry Nine wheelset and G2 RS brakes. The most common criticisms are the bike's relatively narrow performance band (it shines on playful, punchy terrain but can feel out of its depth at high speed or on sustained rough descents), a fork that some testers find harsh, and a price point that many consider steep for the C-grade carbon frame. A few riders also note the V5 is noticeably heavier than the V4, partly due to the new downtube storage.
