About this product
The Big Agnes Salt Creek SL2 is a freestanding double-wall tent designed for two-person, three-season backpacking. It weighs 3 pounds 15 ounces on trail (4 pounds 5 ounces packed) and packs down to a compact 21 by 7.5 inches, making it a practical choice for overnight trips where weight and pack size matter. The floor covers 28 square feet with dimensions of 86 by 42 to 52 inches and a 42-inch interior height, while a four-way DAC Pressfit hub creates more vertical wall space than traditional pole designs. Three doors and two vestibules (10 square feet each) provide convenient entry and generous gear storage without crowding the sleeping area. The fly and floor use polyester ripstop with a 1500mm PU coating, and all seams are fully sealed for reliable rain protection. The canopy combines polyester ripstop with polyester mesh for ventilation, supplemented by one fly vent and vestibule low vents. Two interior pockets and a mesh ceiling pocket (gear loft sold separately) add organization, and pre-cut guylines with tensioners come ready to deploy. A footprint for fast-pitch setup is available separately.

What people are saying
Reviewers consistently praise the Big Agnes Salt Creek SL2 for its standout three-door design, which enables excellent cross-ventilation and panoramic views that owners frequently highlight. Setup earns strong marks across expert and user reviews alike, thanks to color-coded poles and a clip-based system that avoids threading poles through sleeves. The 3D storage bin and multiple interior pockets are recurring highlights, and the freestanding design adds convenient flexibility in camp. The rainfly awning, usable with trekking poles, is appreciated for extending covered living space. The most common criticisms are that the tent runs cool in cold weather due to its high airflow, that two adults find it a tight fit (better suited to one person with gear), that door zippers can be finicky, and that no footprint is included despite the floor benefiting from one on rough terrain.
