About this product

The Big Agnes Salt Creek SL2 is a freestanding, double-wall, three-season tent designed for two backpackers. It packs down to 21 by 7.5 inches and weighs 4 pounds 5 ounces packed (3 pounds 15 ounces trail weight), making it a practical choice for overnight trips where weight and pack size matter. The tent's DAC Pressfit poles feature a four-way hub that pushes the walls more vertical, maximizing the 28 square feet of floor space and 42-inch interior height. The fly and floor are constructed from PU-coated polyester ripstop with a 1,500mm waterproof rating, and all seams are fully sealed for reliable storm protection. A single fly vent combined with vestibule Low Vents promotes airflow and reduces condensation. Three doors and two vestibules (each offering 10 square feet of covered storage) keep gear accessible and off the sleeping floor. Interior organization includes two pockets and a mesh ceiling pocket. Pre-cut guylines and tensioners come ready to use, and a fast-pitch option is available when the footprint is purchased separately.

What people are saying

Reviewers consistently praise the Big Agnes Salt Creek SL2 for its standout three-door design, which enables excellent cross-ventilation and panoramic views that owners frequently highlight. Setup earns strong marks across expert and user reviews alike, thanks to color-coded poles and a clip-based system that avoids threading poles through sleeves. The 3D storage bin and multiple interior pockets are recurring highlights, and the freestanding design adds convenient flexibility in camp. The rainfly awning, usable with trekking poles, is appreciated for extending covered living space. The most common criticisms are that the tent runs cool in cold weather due to its high airflow, that two adults find it a tight fit (better suited to one person with gear), that door zippers can be finicky, and that no footprint is included despite the floor benefiting from one on rough terrain.
